Catching Up

The title of this post actually has a double meaning... I am getting back online after a couple of weeks of shooting, shooting, family craziness, and shooting. I am also posting some shots from a quick trip to LA, where I got to visit with an old friend from college and his beautiful ladies.

Our visit and photos didn't exactly go as planned. While the sun was shining and it was gorgeous outside when I arrived, clouds and mist quickly rolled in, and the weather promptly turned DARK and gloomy. And stayed that way for the duration of my stay. On location, I'm all about using natural light, but in this case, well... there just wasn't much of it. So I had to think a bit outside the box and work with what I had. Fortunately, the company MORE than made up for the unfortunate conditions.

Here are some shots from the "lounging at home" portion of our time together. (There was also "time at the dog park" and "visiting grandparents," and with three locations and a wiggly baby -- they're all wiggly at this age -- I have many, many files to weed through.)

They Bought a Farm

This is the time of year when I get to catch up photographically with several local families, some of whom are both clients and friends. In the past, I've captured these guys in their yard and at the beach. This year, we met up at their new farm. It is a cool place now, but when I heard the description of how it will be, well... let's just say that I am very excited to go back again some day.

Oh, and I apologize for the fact that these guys are so hard on the eyes. ;)

Beach Glow

We worried that this session wasn't going to happen last Friday. In fact, it was technically postponed to a later date during the course of the afternoon. The skies were dark and gloomy and it even sprinkled for awhile. But eventually there was a glow in the sky out toward the coast, so we piled in the car and headed toward the water. And I'm soooo glad we did.

Here's just a sampling of what we got. :)

9 Months

I love photographing kids in the 9- to 18-month old age range. They are so fun to watch, play with and capture, and they're pretty much open to being little models. It's even more fun when I've been able to capture them at various stages already, as I have with this guy. We took his 9-month pics last Thursday, and it was one of the highlights of my week. :)
