Back for More

I was flattered when the K family contacted me several months ago and asked about booking a session. I'd photographed their sweet newborn daughter last year, and they wanted to capture her at the one-year mark and get some other special family images as well.

Our plans were derailed by illness once along the way, and in rescheduling we considered various options for timing and location. There were nap schedules, lighting considerations, and all of the usual good stuff to mull over and kick around, but in the end it was all worth it (at least I think so!).

We managed to capture the dainty and darling Miss A and her sweet sister K, plus some other good lookin' people as well. ;)

Little A was pretty serious during our time together, but I think we succeeded in capturing her gorgeous eyes and delicate features at the tender age of one. I look forward to sharing the entire gallery with her parents soon!

An Old (Young) Friend

This morning's session was with an "old" friend. We got together to photograph T in honor of his second birthday, but I've had the pleasure of photographing this guy since he was a newborn. You might say that we go way back. ;)

It was so fun to watch him run around and explore. He was absolutely darling as he pointed out the distinctions between the surfaces below him -- grass to sidewalk, sidewalk to dirt, asphalt path to wooden bridge plank -- and gingerly tested each one with his toes before deciding that it was safe to cross the invisible threshold. And he upped the darling factor by waving goodbye to every animate and inanimate object as he moved from one area to the next. I found myself thinking, "goodbye, computer," and "goodbye, coffee mug" as I took leave of those things later in the day.

Here are some preview shots from my session with one very busy, very endearing little dude.

Oh! And because I can't resist letting everyone see just how much he's grown in a year, here is a shot from the first birthday session:

Lovely Mom-to-Be

Yesterday's session was with a beautiful mom-to-be. She's one of the lucky ones -- the pregnancy has been smooth sailing, for the most part -- and it showed. She seemed excited yet peaceful, and I get the sense that it's one happy little dude blossoming in there. I can't wait to meet him!

Stopping to Smell the Roses

This post is simply because I'm trying (really, really, really hard) to stop and smell the roses.

Or at least the weeds in the field down the street.

Even if it's just once in awhile.

Because almost everything on the to-do list -- as pressing as it may seem -- is actually small potatoes.

Right?

Little Big Guy

I was lucky enough to photograph this guy when he was brand new and again with his family in the fall, and I get to see him once in awhile when he and his mom shuttle his big sibs to school and their activities. It's always a treat to see his big blue eyes and his darling smile.

But those eyes and smile are a bit deceiving. They always led me to believe he was one of those big, rolie-polie babies, when in fact, he's a one of those healthy little peanuts. Small on the scale but big on sweet personality. And as I saw on Friday, he's definitely his mama's number one fan. They have a great bond, and it's really fun to witness.

Here's a preview from his one-year session... These don't even include the cake shots, as it's been a busy weekend and I haven't even had a chance to go through those yet. But they are bound to be a great addition to his birthday gallery, and I look forward to smiling my way through the editing process. :)
